RapidID and RapidAST identify the bacteria in urine specimens and positive blood cultures and measure their antibiotic susceptibility in about five hours. Developed with NIH support; patents filed and granted in several jurisdictions.

The assays have migrated to the Luminex LX200, an analyser already cleared for clinical laboratory use and installed in many laboratories. The assays themselves are investigational and not licensed by Health Canada. Platform validation and the regulatory pathway are the next steps.
